I’m sure you reached my blog while trying to find information on the much-talked about Apple Watch. Well, Apple Watch has been recently released and a lot of avid Apple users are keen in getting one.
In the market today, the least expensive is the Apple Sports Watch valued at $349 (38mm version) up to $399 (42mm version). It also comes with several rubber sport bands in different colors. The average-priced is the “Apple watch” (which I have one) with cost ranging from $549 to $1,099. The most expensive is the “Apple Watch Edition”. Price starts at $10,000 until $17,000.
The Apple watch I received is the one with the Milanese loop. It was recommended to me by a friend in newborn photography pittsburgh. This Apple watch costs $699. Now, to help you decide on whether to buy one or not, here’s my review of the Apple watch:
- The design is spectacular and first-class. I am sure that many will agree that Apple watch is indeed the best-looking smartwatch today. It weighs just right and is very comfortable on the wrist.
- The strap connector, digital crown and other elements in the design are remarkable.
- The pin-and-tuck mechanism makes the Apple watch easy to adjust when you wear it.
- The screen is bright enough and the app icons can easily be seen even in direct sunlight.
Battery life is a bit disappointing since it is only up to 18 hours which means you can’t go another day without charging it at night. If you make calls, estimated battery life is only 3 to 5 hours.
- iPhone connection
Apple watch only works when connected to an iPhone so obviously this cannot be used by non-iPhone owners. You also need to have your iPhone near your Apple Watch in order for you to make use of it.
- Fitness Tracker
I use my Apple Watch as my fitness tracker. It is way better than others in the market. I am able to measure my heart rate, count my steps and know how many calories I burn during workout because of the watch’s accelerometer.
- Third Party apps
Apple Watch has lots of 3rd party apps which is impressive given that it has only been released for less than a month. I had the luxury of choosing the ones that suit me well. I managed to choose the best health and fitness apps for me.
You can easily find your way around a new location using the Apple watch. I was even able to get a cab fast using the app I had on my iPhone.
I don’t have to fiddle in my pocket to get my iPhone since I easily get notified through my Apple Watch. Sending is a different story though since I had to reply using my iPhone although there are default message on the Apple watch that you can make use of. Of course I usually summon Siri to post the reply for me.
I was able to make calls using the Apple watch but well I can only do it when connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth or Wi-fi. The audio is not that loud compared to that of the iPhone since the device is small.
- Digital Crown and Force Touch
This is one of the two physical buttons in an Apple Watch. Digital crown is very responsive and motion-sensitive. It is helpful in zooming in out an app and of course in scrolling. Force Touch is another feature wherein you press hard on the screen. It functions like an options menu.
When you set up your Apple Watch it is best to choose installing all apps from your iPhone and have Bluetooth activated. Make sure also to update your iPhone to the latest iOS.
Overall, my take on Apple watch is that even if the design and features are impressive it is not really a must-have gadget. It best suits those who can really afford it.
